What is Sygnum’s multi-custody solution?

Sygnum offers an institutional-grade multi-custody solution that fulfils the highest security standards. Our clients have access to both trading and vault wallets, with the private keys in hardware security modules (HSMs), which are located in geo-redundant high security data centres in Switzerland. Sygnum’s multi-layer security setup is audited and certified according to the ISAE 3402 standard.

Digital assets need to pass Sygnum’s proprietary digital asset risk assessment funnel in order to be eligible for the Sygnum banking platform. Sygnum also offers custody for a Digital CHF token and is developing custody services for asset-backed tokens.

How are wallets secured at Sygnum? 

Sygnum offers an institutional-grade custody infrastructure, that fulfils the highest security standards. Our clients have access to segregated vault wallets, with the private keys in hardware security modules (HSMs), which are located in geo-redundant high security data centres in Switzerland. Sygnum’s multi-layer security setup is audited and certified according to the ISAE 3402 standard.

What insurance is included for funds held with Sygnum?  

Esisuisse insurance covers up to CHF 100,000 on fiat deposits held at Sygnum. All crypto assets at Sygnum are held off-balance sheet and are not affected in the unlikely case of a Sygnum insolvency. Furthermore, Sygnum has limited insurance cover against loss of digital assets, i.e., due to internal fraud.

Can digital assets be deposited to and withdrawn from a Sygnum wallet?

Yes, Sygnum accepts deposits and withdrawals for all crypto assets for which it offers custody services.  

You can withdraw or make payments with digital assets by withdrawing funds from your Sygnum e-banking platform and sending it to external wallets that you own. Please note that when funds are sent to a wallet that you own for the first time, transactions need to be verified by Sygnum’s proprietary digital asset screening tool.  Please contact us if you have further questions.
