Zurich, Switzerland, 23.07.2026 — Sygnum, a global digital asset banking group, today announces that BancaStato joins its B2B banking platform. The bank has connected Sygnum’s API with Avaloq’s core banking system and digital banking channels, enabling regulated crypto trading directly within its web and mobile banking channels. It is also leveraging Sygnum’s B2B API without a separate Order Management System (OMS), reducing operational complexity and risks as well as simplifying feature development. BancaStato joins more than 25 other banks and international financial institutions on Sygnum’s B2B platform.
Banca dello Stato del Cantone Ticino is a Swiss cantonal bank serving the Canton of Ticino in southern Switzerland, founded in 1915.T The bank uses the Avaloq platform for its core banking system and digital banking channels in a Software-as-a Service (SaaS) model. Via its integration with Sygnum’s B2B platform, the bank offers its clients regulated access to a range of cryptocurrencies directly within its existing Avaloq web and mobile banking applications.
At launch, BancaStato clients can buy, hold and sell Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Solana (SOL). Market orders can be placed by quantity or USD value via e-banking and mobile apps.
Operations are executed using Sygnum’s B2B API, enabling native purchase or sale directly via Avaloq systems using existing secure infrastructure. Because the streamlined setup does not require a separate Order Management System (OMS), cost and complexity are reduced, trading features can be flexibly adapted to support risk management.
BancaStato client assets are safeguarded in Sygnum’s institutional-grade multi-layer custody solution, which features hardware and software controls, strict governance processes and independent external audits. All client assets are held in full regulatory and legal compliance off-balance sheet, providing additional protection for clients in the event of a bankruptcy.
“We are proud to welcome BancaStato to our fast-growing B2B network, which illustrates the growing demand for Sygnum’s regulated, API-driven digital asset services that integrate directly into existing core banking systems”, says Fritz Jost, Sygnum Chief B2B Officer. “BancaStato, becoming the first bank on Avaloq’s SaaS environment to enable clients to buy, hold and sell crypto via API with Sygnum directly from within its e-banking platforms, marks a significant step in the maturity and scalability of regulated digital asset infrastructure.”
Dr Curzio De Gottardi, BancaStato Head of the Products and Services Division and Vice-Chairman of the Executive Board, says: “Our seamless integration of traditional assets, investment solutions – and now digital assets – further enhances our group’s future-ready offering. We are proud to partner with Sygnum Bank on this strategic initiative. We look forward to leveraging Sygnum’s crypto native banking expertise and secure infrastructure.”
Christian Haux, Managing Director for Switzerland and Liechtenstein, Avaloq, says: “We congratulate BancaStato on launching this new digital asset service with Sygnum, fully integrated into its Avaloq SaaS environment. This project highlights how strong integration allows banks to respond more quickly to new investor expectations, while keeping services on a unified platform. For clients of BancaStato, this new service is integrated into web and mobile banking, enabling them to view and manage their digital and traditional portfolios in one place. It also marks an important milestone for Switzerland as a hub for innovation, where we see strong momentum and a growing number of new initiatives in digital assets.”
BancaStato further expands the depth and breadth of Sygnum’s B2B network in the Ticino region of southern Switzerland. Sygnum already empowers over a third of the Swiss population to own digital assets with complete trust through their partner banks.
On June 30, 2026, Sygnum Europe received a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) licence, under the EU Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCAR) by the Financial Market Authority (FMA) of Liechtenstein. This enables EU banks to leverage Sygnum’s experience to reduce risk, time-to-market and capital requirements when launching regulated digital asset services
