Bill Barhydt is the CEO & Founder of Abra, a new type of digital cash payments app and network enabling the transfer of cash between any two smartphones. Prior to Abra, he co-founded Boom Financial, where he also serves as Chairman. He gave the first TED talk on Bitcoin in 2012, and serves as an advisor and mentor to Boost.VC, a Bitcoin-focused incubator fund. Bill Barhydt won the Technology Pioneer Award from the World Economic Forum in 2000 for his work at WebSentric, the first online meeting service that required no software installation. He has advised federal and international regulators on the impact of digital currencies and decentralized transaction systems. Bill Barhydt started his career working for Netscape, Goldman Sachs, NASA and CIA. Bill Barhydt holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from The Stevens Institute of Technology and has done graduate work (non-degree) in Mathematics at Stanford and in Finance at New York University (NYU), USA.
